"The Muppets" characters, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, have finally fired back at Fox News' Eric Bolling over his criticism that the puppet film spread a liberal agenda to the children. At a recent press conference in London to promote the February 10 U.K. release of the film, the two famous puppets shot down the accusation.

"It's sooo dangerous," Kermit told reporters when asked to comment on the issue. "It's a funny thing, they were concerned with us having some prejudice against oil companies and I can tell you that's categorically not true."

The green frog puppet went on joking, "And besides if we had a problem with oil companies, why would we have spent the entire film driving around in a gas-guzzling Rolls Royce." Miss Piggy then chimed in, "It's almost laughable as accusing Fox News of, you know, being news."

"Boy that's going to be all over the Internet," said Kermit. Miss Piggy quickly added, "If they take what I say seriously, they have a real big problem."

Back in December, Fox Business Network host Eric Bolling accused the kid-friendly movie of brainwashing kids with an "anti-corporate message". He suggested that the film's villainous character Tex Richman, played by Chris Cooper, is an example of Hollywood's liberal agenda. "Liberal Hollywood depicting a successful businessman as evil? That's not new," he said at that time.

"Muppets" director James Bobin went to slam the criticism later in the same month. "Cable news is 24 hours long so you have to fill it up with something. No. the Muppets are not communist," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "And the character of Tex Richman is not an allegory for capitalism in any way."

"The Muppets" was released in the U.S. theaters on November 23. As of January 2012, the movie has grossed $87.1 million in North America and $102.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing "Muppets" film ever.
