The Erica Kane of the canceled daytime drama will host new series 'Deadly Affairs', which highlights 'deceptive love relationships, love triangles and betrayal that have deadly consequences.'

Susan Lucci's upcoming gig after "All My Children" won't be far away from dramas. The former star of the soap opera, which ended its run on ABC last year, is set to host and narrate a new primetime show airing on Investigation Discovery titled "Deadly Affairs".

The new show, which Lucci calls a "real-life soap", will explore true stories of romance gone wrong and the crimes of passion that resulted. "They are deceptive love relationships, love triangles and betrayal that have deadly consequences," the actress teased. "And they end in tragedy."

She went on explaining, "Every day you hear these stories and you think, 'Oh, my goodness!' Then they disappear. You don't know what happened next, and you don't know why they happened. I'm hoping that, in exploring them, we'll shed some light on human nature."

Comparing Erica's scandalous life to the real stories on "Deadly Affairs", the 65-year-old beauty said, "As Erica, I got punished for my wrong deeds. I wound up in jail several times, even in a blood-stained ball gown. But with 'Deadly Affairs,' these are not characters on a soap opera. This is real life."

The new show will begin filming its 10-episode season in March, and is expected to premiere in fall.
