Rooney Mara almost considered to quit acting after starring in "A Nightmare on Elm Street". In an interview for the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly, the 26-year-old beauty admitted that she did not really want the role and ended up feeling discouraged in acting after portraying Nancy Holbrook in the Samuel Bayer-directed reboot project.

"You kind of learn to self-sabotage with things you don't want to get," she shared. "Sometimes you don't want to get something, but you do a really good job and you get in anyway. That's kind of [what happened] with 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' - I didn't even really want it. And then I went in [to audition], and I was like, 'F**k. I definitely got that.' "

Mara went on opening up about her feeling post her stint on the 2010 horror movie, saying "I didn't want to act anymore." She added, "I was like, this isn't what I signed up for. If this is what my opportunities are going to be like, then I'm not that interested in acting. So I was very discouraged and disheartened."

Fortunately, the Lisbeth Salander of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)" later found a script that attracted her. "And then I got 'The Social Network' script," so said the Erica Albright depicter in the Academy Award-winning drama. "That kind of inspired me."

Prior to commenting on her "Nightmare on Elm Street" role, Mara was accused of bashing her stint on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". She said in an interview with Allure, "It was so awful. So stupid. Me and my boyfriend - although I [didn't] look old enough to have a boyfriend - went and beat up these fat people and at the end of the show, you find out that I used to be obese and I hate fat people." The younger sister of actress Kate Mara also called her character's action "ridiculous."

However, Mara later denied that she trashed the storyline. "I didn't mean that the storyline was ridiculous; I meant that humanity is ridiculous," she explained. "I know that 'Law & Order' make their episodes out of real things that are happening in the city, so to me, by 'ridiculous' I meant that humanity is ridiculous. People are awful to one another, and to me, I find it ridiculous."
