The actress, who will be seen as Black Widow in 'The Avengers', will direct a movie adaptation of Truman Capote's lost novel about a young woman who wants to discover her own identity and sexuality.

AceShowbiz - Scarlett Johansson will expand her career as a movie director. The 26-year-old actress is set to make her directorial debut in "Summer Crossing", a movie adaptation of Truman Capote's long lost novel. Variety reported that the "Iron Man 2" actress will team up with Oscar-winning producer Barry Spikings in the project.

The story in Capote's book is set in New York City over the course of the hot summer of 1945. It focuses on an 18-year-old young woman who breaks free of her rich family to discover her own identity and sexuality. Copote wrote the novel in the 1940s, but it was lost for half a century before eventually being published in 2005.

Back in September, Johansson told Women's Wear Daily that she has always wanted to direct a feature film since she was a kid. "I've wanted to direct since I was 12, since I watched Bob Redford direct 'The Horse Whisperer'," she said. "I was like, 'I want that job!' "

The New York-born actress will be seen starring opposite Matt Damon in "We Bought a Zoo", which is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 23. Her other upcoming movies include highly anticipated superhero pic "The Avengers" and sci-fi drama "Under the Skin".
