In the drama, Charlize plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relieve her glory days and try to reclaim her high school lover, Buddy Slade, who is already settle down with another woman. When coming home proves more difficult than she thought, she bonds with her old classmate, who hasn't quite gotten over high school either.

"Young Adult" is directed by Jadon Reitman. It reunites Reitman with scribe Diablo Cody after their collaboration on "Juno". Joining Charlize in the cast are Patton Oswalt who plays Mavis' former classmate, Patrick Wilson who stars as Buddy, and Elizabeth Reaser who tackles Buddy's wife. The film will be released in limited U.S. theaters on December 9, before opening wide on December 16.
