Soulja Boy Claims Innocence on Drug and Weapons Charges

After he was released on $10,000 bond, the 'Crank That' rapper also makes use of his Twitter account to apologize to his fans and thank them for standing outside the jail in Temple, Georgia.

AceShowbiz - Soulja Boy was arrested Tuesday, October 18 morning on marijuana and gun possession charges. The 21-year-old rapper, however, is adamant he's innocent. In fact, he proclaimed his innocence to his screaming fans when he walked out of jail after posting a $10,000 bond later that day.

"I'm innocent man. I love you all. I just want you'll to know I'm innocent," declared the "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" MC, whose real name is DeAndre Way. CBS Atlanta detailed that he made the quick statement while being escorted to an awaiting car outside a bail bond company by his bodyguards.

Following his release, Soulja took to Twitter to thank his supporters. "thank you and i'm sorry. love you forever, seeing your letters and you standing outside that jail made me feel the love. my fans r the best," he wrote in one, and in another, he tweeted, "Aye can I have a real n***a moment? my fans was DEEP AS F**K OUTSIDE THAT JAIL MAN IM SORRY!!! thats love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The young rapper additionally apologized for missing out on some of the promotional efforts for his straight-to-DVD movie, "Soulja Boy: The Movie". He tweeted, "I missed 10 interviews today for my new movie! to those companies i'm sorry! you can see I had a lil situation. the show must go on."

Soulja and four other men were busted in Temple, Georgia. When traveling in a Cadillac Escalade, they were stopped by police for a routine traffic violation. Detecting a strong marijuana odor, police went to search the car and found five ounces of marijuana, three guns and $46,000 in cash.

The discovery led all five men to be booked into the Carroll County Jail. They were then charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
