The Hugh Jackman-starring family film rules the chart two weeks in a row, defeating the Julianne Hough dance remake movie which performs below the expectation.

AceShowbiz - For the second week in a row, "Real Steel" leads the North American box office. The Hugh Jackman-starring robot boxing family movie grosses $16.2 million, dropping 40|percent| from last week. It collects a total cume of $51.7 million.
Disney executive vice president of distribution, Dave Hollis, explains that the targeted market plays important role for "Real Steel" success on the chart. He says, "The fact that we're appealing to families makes all the difference in this landscape."
"Footloose" finishes the second on its opening weekend. The dance film earns $15.5 million, while it was expected to already cover its $24 million budget in its first week. Receiving an "A" CinemaScore, the Julianne Hough-starring remake movie appeals to 75|percent| of female audience.
Although the film fails to top the chart on its first weekend, Rob Moore, Paramount vice-chairman, believes that it will be successful. He says, "Certainly, this movies will be very successful, and have a great return. And based on where it played and the 'A' CinemaScore, we should have a very good multiple."
Another newcomer "The Thing" lands on the third place. While Universal Pictures hopes to gross around $10 million in its first week, the thriller only rakes in $8.4 million. Attracting 57|percent| male moviegoers, the movie receives a "B-" CinemaScore. Nikki Rocco, Universal president of distribution says, "It slightly underperformed."
George Clooney's political drama "The Ides of March" secures the fourth position, adding $7.1 million for a total of $22 million cume after two weeks playing in cinemas. "Dolphin Tale", meanwhile, rounds up the top five with $6.2 million for a total cume of $58.7 million.
