Bruno Mars has filed a lawsuit against his music publisher, Bug Music, Inc. on Tuesday, August 30 in L.A. County Superior Court. The Grammy-winning singer claimed the company has forcibly kept him in the contract which expired May 12, 2011 although he has completed his end of bargain.

According to the files, the publisher didn't exercise its option to continue the contract after he turned in all of his music in February. Mars claimed that the company never got back to him so he considered the contract was terminated. However, people at Bugs thought otherwise and said that the company is still entitled to 50|percent| of copyrights of any music he makes.

Mars' lawyer, Michael J. Niborski, said Bug "shifted gears, and suddenly argued that (Mars) had not, in fact, met the minimum release requirements". Now, the "Just the Way You Are" singer is asking a judge to issue a declaration that the contract has ended so that he can move on with his career.
