Casey Abrams has narrowly missed elimination from "American Idol" on Thursday night, March 24, and Blake Lewis has a few words he'd like to share with the finalist. Speaking to MTV, the runner-up of season 6 first admitted, "I like Casey." Still, he was quick to add, "I think he's been scaring America."
Offering a reason behind the comment, the 29-year-old pointed out, "He looks like he's going to punch a baby." As for his advice for Casey on how to avoid getting the boot too early, the singer/beatboxer further added, "I want him to smile. ... Each week he's been screaming."
Speaking of the female contenders, Blake admitted to be left surprised when Haley Reinhart avoided elimination. Still, he did praise her as "a great vocalist". As for early favorite Pia Toscano, he said, "I want her to sing something uptempo. The producers need to arrange something groovy for her voice."
When the subject changed to new judge Jennifer Lopez, the "Break Anotha" singer confessed he "fell in love with her" when she came to mentor him and his fellow "Idol" contenders on season 6. "I've been praising J.Lo, because she's just a queen and her comments are right on," he said. "My love is so strong. She was the best mentor for our season."
