Beside excited with his Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role nomination at 2011 Oscars for his portrayal as single dad named Uxbal in "Biutiful", Javier Bardem has something else to celebrate. He is a first-time dad as his actress wife Penelope Cruz has given birth to their child.
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, the high-profile couple welcomed the infant at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 25, just a few days after Cruz held a baby shower in her L.A. home last week. Further report suggested the tot is a boy.
Both Cruz and Bardem have taken timeout from work to relax and await for the arrival of the baby in Palm Springs, California. They took the break right after the baby shower which had Bar Refaeli and her boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio among the guests.
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem wed in a low-key ceremony in the Bahamas in July 2010. She confirmed her pregnancy two months later after she was spotted with undeniable baby bump on the set of her upcoming movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides".
