Movie

Claiming the film is still in a process, the depicter of Peter Parker argues that making the fourth 'Spider-Man' film takes 'a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward.'

Latest reports from "Spider-Man 4" have suggested that the production has been halted because of script problems. However, when discussing the matter with The Hollywood Reporter, Tobey Maguire seems to have different opinion about the issue. Instead of calling the project in a mess, he believes "it's a process" which usually happens to all films.

"We're just in the midst of the process," Maguire says. The actor then adds, "We have a lot of great stuff in terms of story and script. We're just trying to dial it in and get it ready as quickly as possible. Of course, these movies are a very big undertaking and take a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward."

Responding to report that the fourth "Spider-Man" will not be able to meet its May 5, 2011 release date, Maguire claims it is still scheduled to be released next year. However, the depicter of Peter Parker and his alter ego Spider-Man in the previous three films does not mention the specific date.

Despite all the problems that hit the production process, Maguire is still very excited about the film as his ideas are used for the storyline. "Not only do I have specific ideas, but the ideas are evolving on the page," he states. "It's all happening right now. It's all sort of coming together. It's very exciting to me. I think the evolution of the character is really exciting, to be rooted in the history of what we've done already and to have a continuity, yet have a progression or evolution."

Beside Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst is set to reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson in "Spider-Man 4". Sam Raimi will return to the directing position for the fourth time, with Avi Arad, Grant Curtis, Laura Ziskin set to produce.
