A day after the sneak peek to "The Runaways" came out on Entertainment Tonight (ET), a teaser trailer for the film has been released by MTV on Thursday, December 17. Though it is much the same with the previously released snippet, the new video has a clearer picture and manages to give a better look at Kristen Stewart's Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning's Cherie Currie performing The Runaways' famous hit "Cherry Bomb".

"The Runaways" is based on the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name, which were brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley. Being expected to be an easy sell with a novelty act of teenaged girls performing in leather and lace, the girls ended up proving to be serious and influential musicians.

The film itself will cover the formation of The Runaways through to Cherie's departure at the peak of their success. It is also said to highlight the relationship between lead vocalist/keyboardist Cherie and guitarist/vocalist Joan.

Joining Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in the cast ensemble are Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve, and Alia Shawkat. Being listed as one of the movies in 2010 Sundance non-competition line-up, the film will be premiered during the festival which runs January 21-31, 2010. However, Apparition which has nabbed the U.S. distribution rights to the film has not decided when they are going to drop the film in theaters.
