Music

Blake hired one of the fallens of 'American Idol' to be his love interest in the music video.

Blake Lewis' latest music video for "Sad Song" is released in full on Monday, September 21, one day prior to the official release on his MySpace. The music video is shot as a 1940s film-noir style story about the end of a couple's relationship, highlighted with some 40s-meets-80s style fashion and video editing.

The female lead is played by Casey Carlson who was also an "American Idol" contestant in the recent season 8. Casey only managed to advance to the semi-final round where she stumbled after singing The Police's "Every Little Thing He Does Is Magic". Blake himself was the runner-up of season 6, beaten by Jordin Sparks in the final round.

"Sad Song" is a single lifted from Blake's latest effort "Heartbreak on Vinyl" which will be released in the U.S. on October 6. "[It] is the culmination of over 10 years in the dance scene -- the music that gets me out onto the dance floor to lose my inhibition," he previously said.

In the upcoming months, Lewis will be making a number of appearances across the country in support of the new release. This would include September 26 date in Novato, CA where he will perform at the Rockin' Blues by the Lake festival with The B-52's.
