The show about an advertisement agency and its eccentric employees will be alive at least for another year.

"Mad Men" is only three episodes into the third season but AMC has so much faith in the drama that it puts down an order for fourth season. The cable announced the decision on Tuesday, September 1 but did not specify how many episodes will be in the new season and when it will go on air.

The renewal may as well be based on the fact that it debuted the third season to a better number of audience. Compared to last year's 1.5 million, it has taken a significant raise to 2.8 million viewers in August 2009. Meanwhile, the average for the first three episodes of this season is 2.1 million viewers, a 40|percent| increase from the same period last year.

Additionally, the show is being nominated for 16 categories at the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards. Last year it was also nominated for the same amount of nods and managed to win six of them including Best Drama.

Although only announced this month, the fourth season is somewhat expected as series creator Matthew Weiner already signed a contract with producer Lionsgate earlier this year for a third and fourth season.
