"I feel great ..... I was very emotional and I'm not somebody who breaks down and cries," the newly wed says of her weekend wedding.

Kara DioGuardi, who is best known as one of the judges in "American Idol," has married her fiance Mike McCuddy on Sunday, July 5 at 12:30 in the afternoon in Prospect Harbor, Maine. The couple exchanged wedding vows in front of about 30 guests at the United Methodist Church, which is located across the street from the bride's house.

Donning a Vera Wang-designed wedding dress, Kara finished off her look with a 30-carat diamond-and-platinum bracelet and chandelier earrings with 20 carats of diamonds. The jewels were valued at $250,000.

Speaking to In Touch Weekly after the wedding ceremony, Kara said, "I feel great. What was most unbelievable about the experience was when I looked out at the church and saw all these people that were so important to me and Mike, who were there for us. It was pretty powerful. I was very emotional and I'm not somebody who breaks down and cries."

Kara first met Mike, who is a teacher-turned-general contractor, when he was building a house next to hers. He proposed to her in December 2008, right on her 38th birthday. The engagement took place while they were on vacation in Mexico.
