Frank Marshall has pretty much confirmed that a follow-up to 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' is in a very early development stage.

"Indiana Jones V" is indeed looming. After actor Shia LaBeouf let it slip on the progress of the possible project, producer Frank Marshall came out with a sort of confirmation for the fifth "Indiana Jones" movie. In a chat with Empire Online, the filmmaker said that this follow up to "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is approaching a script development stage.
While revealing so, Marshall stressed that the green lit for the project all depends on the script. "It's really about the script," he shared. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!"
Marshall also gave thumbs up when asked about whether Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, and George Lucas have accepted the idea of producing the fifth installment of the whip-cracking archaeologist. "Yeah," he stated. "We had a great time making the last one and, as Harrison said, we need to make this one soon. We're not getting any younger."
Aside from taking it to Empire, the producer also used his Twitter page to share on how far the progress of "Indy 5" is. On a message dated June 18, he wrote, "The story for Indy5 is progressing. It is still in the research phase."
Previously, Shia LaBeouf let it slip that Steven Spielberg had cracked a story on "Indiana Jones V". The Mutt Williams of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" broke out the interesting scoop during an interview with BBC News and went on further saying, "I think they're gearing that up."
