Writer/director Kevin Williamson reportedly has reached out to both Courteney Cox and David Arquette to make their return in the so-called 'Scream' reboot.

Talks of new "Scream" trilogy have been brought up to the surface once again as Entertainment Weekly (EW) reported on possible return of several original stars. According to the publication, both Courteney Cox and David Arquette have been approached by writer/director Kevin Williamson to reprise their roles in what EW called to be a reboot project.
Though suggesting possibilities of the two actors' return, EW noted that deals have yet to be signed. But, it is said that everyone involved in the negotiations are working a deal that will avoid potential scheduling conflicts from Courteney's involvement in "Cougar Town", which was picked up by ABC earlier.
Back in early 2009, reports have been circulating that Kevin Williamson is working on a new trilogy for "Scream". To start with "Scream 4", the trilogy is intended to be a younger version of the popular '90s horror series. Director Wes Craven is not officially attached to helm the project, but could carry out the role for the fourth film, stating that it depends on the script. It is still unclear whether Neve Campbell's character will play a part in this new project.
