The World War II epic from director Quentin Tarantino, 'Inglourious Basterds', has officially received an August 2009 theatrical debut date.

AceShowbiz - Summer will be the time for "Inglourious Basterds". In a recent announcement, The Weinstein Company (TWC) have unveiled that the Quentin Tarantino's newest movie starring Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger and Christoph Waltz will be debuted in theaters across the U.S. on August 21, 2009.

The late August opening date puts this World War II drama up against New Line Cinema's horror thriller "Final Destination: Death Trip 3D" and Paramount Vantage's comedy "The Goods: The Don Ready Story". In the meantime, Universal Pictures, which co-finance the movie alongside TWC, are expected to unravel the overseas release dates soon.

To deliver an intertwined story, "Inglourious Basterds" centers its story on a group of Jewish soldiers. Led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine, they set out to bring down the leaders of The Third Reich by blowing up a Parisian theater that premieres a Nazi propaganda film. At the same time and at the same theater, a French Jewish teenager, Shosanna Dreyfus, plots for a revenge on the Nazi.
