In Soul/Rhythm & Soul Music, Rihanna is named 'Favorite Female Artist' while in Rap/Hip-Hop Music, Kanye West wins 'Favorite Album' with his 'Graduation' LP.

AceShowbiz - 2008 American Music Awards has been held on November 23 and winners from six categories of the awards have been announced. From Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, it was revealed that Rihanna and Rascal Flatts have been named as some of the artists bringing home the Sunday-night trophies.

In Soul/Rhythm & Soul Music category, Rihanna wins "Favorite Female Artist", beating down Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys. Meanwhile, in Country Music group, Rascal Flatts grab honor for "Favorite Band, Duo or Group", winning over Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland.

Also taking home an award at the ceremony is Kanye West who pockets a trophy for "Favorite Album" in Rap/Hip-Hop Music category, thanks to his album "Graduation". His 2007 LP, which peaked at number 1 on Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart, puts aside other records, Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" and Jay-Z's "American Gangster".

Back to the Country Music group, Brad Paisley wins "Favorite Male Artist" after a stiff competition with Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney. Meanwhile, though Alicia misses out in "Favorite Female Artist", she still manages to bring home an honor for "Favorite Album" in Pop/Rock Music category with her third effort "As I Am ".

After the announcement of the Favorite Soul/Rhythm & Blues Album, Taylor Swift is announced as "Favorite Female Artist" in Country Music group. She has made Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire losing their chances on the category.
