A confirmation is soon to come from Melanie C hot on the heels of mounting rumors that she's pregnant with boyfriend Thomas Starr's baby. The Spice Girls singer announced Friday, August 22 on her official website that she and Tom are expecting a child and feeling "very happy."
"As I'm sure you'll understand we needed time to wait for results and tell our families," the Sporty Spice wrote about her confirmation. "Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation!)".
On not sharing news of her pregnancy earlier, Mel explained "You all know how much I value my privacy so I'm sure I can rely on you to respect that, particularly at this time." Speaking on how her pregnancy might affect her singing career, she went on saying that she currently has started writing on her fifth album. "I'll need some time off to be a mum but, before you know it, we'll be back," she admitted.
Mel and Tom, a property developer, have been dating since 2002. They, according to reports, currently share a 700,000 pound sterling country home in Catbrook, Monmouthshire. The baby Mel is carrying will be the first child for the couple. In the 'message' she wrote on her official site, Mel doesn't disclose her due date though.
