Kevin Federline reportedly is working in his home studio as a producer while juggling his role as a father.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Federline is in attempt to build a stronger existence in music industry. The rapper who, in this time frame, is more famous as the ex-husband of Britney Spears, is back in the studio not as the one behind the mic but as the one behind the panel.

Federline who did not do quite well with his 2006 album 'Playing With Fire', reportedly is taking the role of producer from his home studio. Sources told E! Online, "Kevin has been actively producing, nurturing new artists and doing it all from his home studio, so he can be there for his kids whenever they need him."

On why he did not follow up his debut effort the source added, "He loves the music business and is committed to making it a career for himself, even if it's not as a singer. He knows no one will ever take him seriously as a performer, so he's working behind the scenes as a producer."

'Playing With Fire' was released in October 2006 and entered the chart at #151 selling only 6,500 copies although it received the necessary boost from producer J.R. Rotem and his then wife, Spears.

In other news, Federline will reprise his role as a struggling musician named Lucas in CW series 'One Tree Hill'. He will be guest starring in a three-episode block airing on January 15, January 22 and January 29.
