Ricky Martin Earns Two at 8th Latin Grammy Awards

Ricky Martin scored 2 out of the four nominations he was given but his number is beaten by Juan Luis Guerra at 5 nods.

AceShowbiz - Of all the four nods he was given at the 8th annual Latin Grammy Awards, Ricky Martin managed to grab two of it. His winning is overshadowed by his senior Juan Luis Guerra who took home as many as five honors.

Through 'MTV Unplugged', Martin held the title 'Best Long Form Music Video' and 'Best Male Pop Vocal Album', while the big winner, Guerra grabbed all 'Record of the Year', 'Song of the Year', 'Album of the Year', 'Merengue Album' and 'Tropical Song' for his hit 'La Llave De Mi Corazon'.

Puerto Rican band Calle 13 was awarded one prize for 'Urban Music Album' and shared another, 'Urban Song' with Panasuyo for single 'Pal Norte'. Frontman Rene Perez said on the acceptance speech, "We are super thrilled, nervous, this has been a lot of pressure. To all of Mexico, Colombia, from the heart - to all Latinos, from here no one will remove us."

The eight annual Latin Grammy Awards was aired live from Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay casino-hotel on Thursday, November 8. Performers on that night include Reggaeton Daddy Yankee, Miguel Bose and Bimba Bose, and Ivy Queen.
