She had a dark past. In an interview with COSMOgirl! for its August issue, Kelly Clarkson opens up about the eating disorder she suffered from after missing out on a role in her high school musical.

"I thought if I come back and I'm cuter and thinner... then I'll get the role. I became bulimic for the next six months. One of my guy friends caught on to it, and I just felt so ashamed and embarrassed," the American Idol winner told the US magazine.

Admitted she ended her bulimic suffering without outside help, Kelly has from that point on vowed to be more positive about her body and promote healthy eating to her fans. "I've got a butt, I'm Greek - I can't help that. And I think it's good for people to see normal. I love food far too much!" the singer said.

Kelly is in hot water these days, facing tough times in her singing career. Following her feud with music mogul Clive Davis, she then decided to part ways with her manager. To make matter worse, she's been forced to cancel her summer tour that is embarked in support of her highly anticipated album "My December" reportedly due to slow ticket sales.
