Looks like one director is not enough for "Rapunzel."

According to LaughingPlace.com, Walt Disney Feature Animation has hired a second director for the project to work as an equal alongside Glen Keane, and the lucky man turns out to be Dean Wellins, Annie-nominated animator and story artist.

Based on the fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm, the flick previously contained a plot centering on two romantically challenged, real-world teenagers who are transformed into Rapunzel and her Prince yet now is said to revert back to the literary origins of the tale. It reportedly will be made entirely in traditional animation, though the hair and backgrounds would be CGI.

Attached to fill in the voice of the title character is "Deck the Halls" star Kristin Chenoweth with Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott working on the script. Meanwhile, distribution rights have already been secured by Buena Vista Pictures to launch the picture for a 2009 release.
