Melissa George has been assigned to star opposite Josh Hartnett in "30 Days of Night."

Former "Alias" star Melissa George has been reported to join the cast of "30 Days of Night", MelissaGeorge.co.uk has revealed. Last seen appearing on the big screen in Clive Owen's 2005 vehicle of "Derailed", George will share the scene with Josh Hartnett, who is about to be seen in "The Black Dahlia" released on September 15.

In the film, George will play a deputy and wife of the Sheriff of Barrow played by Hartnett who both are torn between their own survival and saving the town they love when vampires come to generate terror and bring all the residents to their knees.

Adapted from Steve Niles' horror graphic novel, pic will be directed by David Slade based on the scripts penned by Stuart Beattie and is intended to meet an October 19, 2007 release under Columbia and Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures.
