As the turbulent 1840s unfold, the Steed family finds their faith and loyalty tested to the breaking point in this gripping historical drama. Directed by Sterling Van Wagenen, the film continues the epic saga of a family caught in the birth pangs of a new American religion. Patriarch Benjamin Steed, portrayed by Sam Hennings, and his resilient wife Mary Ann, played by Brenda Strong, struggle to hold their family together as external persecution and internal dissent threaten to tear them apart. Their sons, including the passionate Joshua (Jonathan Scarfe) and the faithful Nathan (Eric Johnson), find themselves on opposing sides of a growing ideological chasm, their personal convictions pulling them in different directions amidst the rising tensions in Nauvoo, Illinois.

This chapter masterfully weaves personal drama with historical sweep, painting a poignant portrait of a "house divided" against itself. The film, written by Matt Whitaker, explores themes of sacrifice, conviction, and the painful cost of religious freedom with a solemn and heartfelt tone. As mob violence escalates and betrayal lurks in unexpected corners, each family member must confront their deepest beliefs and decide what they are willing to endure for their faith and for each other. The powerful ensemble cast, including Alexander Carroll, Andrew Bowen, and Emily Podleski, brings emotional depth to this compelling story of a family striving to find unity when the world around them demands division.
