In the wry and perceptive dramedy "Song of Back and Neck," Paul Lieberstein (who also writes and directs) stars as Fred, a man whose life is defined by a single, debilitating affliction: chronic back and neck pain. This constant physical agony has left him emotionally and professionally paralyzed, stuck in a soul-crushing office job and unable to connect with the world around him, including his compassionate but weary wife, played by Rosemarie DeWitt. Fred's quiet desperation finds an unlikely outlet when he stumbles into a local choir, discovering that the very act of singing provides him with fleeting moments of relief from his suffering. This new passion sets him on a collision course with his overbearing boss, Brian d'Arcy James, and forces him to confront the deeper anxieties he has long suppressed through his physical symptoms. Blending sharp observational humor with genuine pathos, the film explores one man's awkward, painful, and often funny journey to find his voice, both literally and figuratively, while navigating the universal aches of modern life.
