In the heartfelt drama So B. It, directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, a young girl named Heidi, played with remarkable depth by Talitha Bateman, embarks on a life-changing journey to uncover the truth about her past. Heidi has spent her childhood in a small-town apartment with her agoraphobic mother, who suffers from a developmental disability, and their devoted but eccentric neighbor, played by the legendary Alfre Woodard. The only clues to Heidi's identity are a single photograph and the mysterious word "Soof." When her mother is suddenly unable to care for her, Heidi must summon immense courage to venture into the unknown world, traveling across the country to a strange town in New York. Along the way, she encounters a cast of colorful characters, including a kind-hearted man portrayed by John Heard and a wise, unconventional woman played by Cloris Leachman. This poignant, PG-13 drama explores themes of family, resilience, and the search for belonging, weaving a touching narrative about a determined girl who learns that the most important truths are often found in the heart, not in a history book.
