In a frozen, post-apocalyptic world, the last remnants of humanity survive aboard the Snowpiercer, a massive, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. A brutal class system is enforced on this steel ark, with the wealthy elite living in luxury at the front while the oppressed tail-section inhabitants suffer in squalor. Chris Evans stars as Curtis, a reluctant leader in the tail who, spurred by the wisdom of his mentor Gilliam, played by John Hurt, and the desperation of fellow passengers like Octavia Spencer's character, decides to lead a revolt. Their perilous journey forward through the train's bizarre and violent compartments brings them face-to-face with the train's eccentric gatekeepers, including the fanatical Minister Mason, portrayed by Tilda Swinton, and closer to the enigmatic creator of the train itself, Wilford (Ed Harris). Directed by Bong Joon Ho, this intense and visually stunning thriller from the producer of Oldboy explores the price of revolution and survival within a claustrophobic microcosm hurtling toward an uncertain future.
