On one fateful Saturday night, the fate of a beloved but struggling small-town movie theater rests in the hands of its most unlikely employees. When the eccentric owner, played by Michael Madsen, is unexpectedly called away, he leaves the crumbling Starlight cinema in the care of his anxious manager, Abigail Breslin, and her motley crew of disinterested co-workers, including a charming but lazy projectionist Tony Cavalero and a trio of bickering ushers portrayed by Brec Bassinger, Brenna D'Amico, and Dylan Summerall. Their simple goal of surviving a single shift without incident is spectacularly derailed by a cascade of disasters, from a broken popcorn machine and a rogue rodent to the sudden arrival of a demanding, high-maintenance celebrity guest, Denise Richards.
