Tourist, The
In a tale woven with intrigue and deception, "The Tourist" plunges viewers into a world where nothing is as it seems. S...
The idyllic shores of a small beach town become a blood-soaked battleground when a prehistoric predator, perfectly adapted to hunt beneath the sand, awakens from its slumber. As the Fourth of July weekend approaches, the local sheriff, played by Corin Nemec, teams up with a sharp-witted marine biologist (portrayed by Gina Holden) to uncover the truth behind a series of gruesome disappearances. Their investigation pits them against skeptical locals and a greedy resort owner (played by Brooke Hogan) who refuses to cancel the lucrative holiday festivities. This creature feature from director Mark Atkins blends horror with a healthy dose of self-aware comedy, embracing its B-movie premise with energetic abandon. With the body count rising and the sand itself hiding a ravenous threat, the mismatched heroes must find a way to lure the sand sharks away from the crowded beaches before the annual celebration turns into a massacre. It is a bloody, beach-blanket monster mash that delivers thrills and laughs in equal measure.
