In the fading light of the Ottoman Empire, a love triangle unfolds against the backdrop of a world on the brink of chaos. Oscar Isaac stars as Mikael, a promising Armenian medical student who returns to his homeland, where he becomes entangled with Ana, a beautiful and educated Armenian woman played by Charlotte Le Bon. Their burgeoning connection is complicated by Ana’s relationship with Chris, an American journalist portrayed by Christian Bale, who is in the region to report on the growing tensions. As the empire begins its systematic persecution of the Armenian people, Mikael’s simple promise to return to his village becomes a desperate struggle for survival. Directed by Terry George, this sweeping drama and romance follows these three individuals as their lives and loyalties are tested by the encroaching horrors of history. With powerful performances from a cast including Jean Reno and Shohreh Aghdashloo, the film paints a poignant portrait of humanity, courage, and enduring love in the face of unimaginable adversity.
