In the rugged isolation of 1906 Oklahoma, a stoic farmer named Henry, portrayed with quiet intensity by Tim Blake Nelson, lives a hard but simple life with his headstrong son, Wyatt (Gavin Lewis). Their solitary existence is violently shattered when Henry discovers a wounded stranger with a satchel full of cash, pursued by a menacing posse led by the cunning and determined Ketchum (Stephen Dorff). Claiming to be a lawman, the stranger’s story fails to convince the wary farmer, forcing Henry to defend his homestead and his son. As the threat escalates into a tense siege, long-buried secrets about Henry’s own past begin to surface, challenging everything Wyatt believes about his father. Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, this gripping and atmospheric Western builds with slow-burn tension, exploring themes of legacy, violence, and the inescapable shadows of a man’s history. The film masterfully weaves a tale where every character, including a formidable neighbor played by Trace Adkins, holds their cards close, building toward a confrontation where the truth is the most dangerous weapon of all.
