In the comedy "Norbit," directed by Brian Robbins, Eddie Murphy stars in multiple roles, most notably as the meek and kind-hearted Norbit, who has been dominated his entire life. His tumultuous journey reaches a peak when he becomes trapped in a miserable marriage to the outrageously demanding and abusive Rasputia, another character portrayed by Murphy. Norbit's mundane existence is upended with the return of his childhood sweetheart, Kate, played by Thandie Newton. Kate's arrival, however, also brings her aggressively possessive fiancé, Lester, portrayed by Terry Crews, who is determined to marry her. As Norbit attempts to reconnect with Kate and find the courage to escape his own nightmarish union, he must navigate the chaotic interference of those around him, including characters played by Eddie Griffin, Clifton Powell, and Cuba Gooding Jr.. This PG-13 romantic comedy, produced by Michael Tollin, John Davis, and Murphy from a script by Jay Scherick and David Ronn, delivers 102 minutes of outrageous scenarios as Norbit fights for a chance at true love and self-respect.
