A former singer, Jane (Renee Zellweger), has been wheelchair-bound and emotionally scarred for a decade, haunted by a tragic accident. She lives a quiet, guarded life, but her best friend, a gentle and eccentric man named Ornette (Forest Whitaker), believes she needs to find her voice again. When a mysterious letter arrives, revealing a long-lost son she never knew she had, Jane is forced to confront her painful past. Reluctantly, she agrees to let Ornette drive her across the country on a road trip to meet him, a journey that becomes an unpredictable and often hilarious adventure. Along the way, they encounter a cast of colorful characters, including a washed-up, cynical musician played by Nick Nolte, who challenges Jane's self-imposed isolation. This heartfelt dramedy from director Olivier Dahan blends moments of genuine emotion with offbeat humor, exploring themes of forgiveness, friendship, and the healing power of music as Jane slowly learns to reconnect with the world and the people who love her.
