In the quirky horror-comedy "My Name Is Bruce", the line between screen idol and real-life hero hilariously blurs when a small town accidentally summons an ancient Chinese demon. The terrified residents of Gold Lick, believing they need a legendary monster hunter to save them, kidnap none other than B-movie icon Bruce Campbell, famous for his role as Ash in the Evil Dead series. Campbell, playing a fictionalized, egotistical version of himself, is convinced he's been hired for a cheesy fan film, treating the very real supernatural terror as just another acting gig. Directed by and starring Bruce Campbell, the film gleefully skewers celebrity culture and genre conventions as this reluctant, self-absorbed "hero" must confront a menace far more terrifying than any script. With a supporting cast including Ted Raimi and Ellen Sandweiss, the movie delivers a meta, gory, and uproarious adventure where the only thing more monstrous than the creature might be Campbell's own inflated ego.
