Set in the early 1970s, this inspiring sports drama follows Cathy Rush, portrayed by Carla Gugino, a forward-thinking young woman who accepts the seemingly impossible job of coaching the women's basketball team at tiny, cash-strapped Immaculata College. Facing a skeptical Mother Superior played by Ellen Burstyn and a team with no uniforms, no gym, and no scholarships, Coach Rush must overcome deep-seated institutional resistance and her own personal doubts. With the unwavering support of her husband, played by David Boreanaz, she begins to instill a fierce sense of discipline and belief in her ragtag group of players. As the underdog Mighty Macs start to defy expectations on the court, they challenge the era's prevailing attitudes about women in sports, uniting their small community in a thrilling and heartfelt journey toward an improbable national championship.
