In this quirky comedy from director Todd Louiso, high school is a distant memory for Marc Pease (c=Jason Schwartzman), a former musical theater star who peaked as a senior during a production of The Wiz. Now in his mid-twenties, Marc still clings to his glory days, working at a local electronics store and re-living his past through his former drama teacher, Mr. Gribble (c=Ben Stiller), who has become an unlikely friend and mentor. When Marc’s old high school girlfriend, the ambitious and talented Meg (c=Anna Kendrick), returns to town with her own unfinished business, old tensions and insecurities resurface. As the school’s upcoming production of The Wiz approaches, Marc sees a chance to reclaim his spotlight, forcing him to confront the gap between his youthful dreams and his present reality. With a cast of endearingly awkward characters, the film blends gentle humor with poignant observations about growing up and letting go.
