In this darkly comedic action romp, a ragtag group of eccentric assassins, led by the insecure and ambitious Blake (played by Taran Killam), hatches an elaborate scheme to take down the world’s most notorious and elusive hitman: the legendary Gunther. Jealous of Gunther’s fearsome reputation and eager to prove themselves as the top killers in the business, the team—which includes a motley crew of bumbling specialists portrayed by Cobie Smulders, Bobby Moynihan, and Kumail Nanjiani—plans an over-the-top ambush. However, their meticulously laid trap quickly unravels when they discover that Gunther, played with deadpan menace by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is far more dangerous and cunning than they ever imagined. What follows is a chaotic, bullet-riddled cat-and-mouse game where the hunters become the hunted. Directed by Taran Killam, this mockumentary-style film blends sharp satire with slapstick violence, poking fun at the conventions of the action genre while delivering a surprisingly heartfelt story about camaraderie and professional rivalry. As the assassins’ plans go hilariously awry, they must confront their own inadequacies and the terrifying reality that killing Gunther may be impossible.
