A former soldier turned contract killer, Jay, is struggling to provide for his family after a disastrous job gone wrong in Belfast. Directed by Ben Wheatley, this unnerving thriller follows Jay, played by Neil Maskell, and his partner Gal, portrayed by Michael Smiley, as they accept a mysterious new assignment from a shadowy client. Presented with a list of three targets, the pair believes they are simply eliminating dangerous criminals, but each killing becomes increasingly unsettling, blurring the line between professional duty and personal morality. As Jay’s violent past resurfaces and his sanity begins to fray, his wife Shel, played by MyAnna Buring, grows ever more concerned about his erratic behavior. The film’s tense, slow-burn atmosphere builds to a harrowing crescendo, weaving elements of folk horror into its gritty crime narrative. With a cast including Emma Fryer and Struan Rodger, this 90-minute journey spirals into a nightmarish exploration of guilt, violence, and the consequences of a life lived by the sword.
