In the sun-drenched, perpetually dry town of Dustville, a quirky community faces its most absurd crisis yet: a complete and utter lack of rain. Directed by Alfred J. Goulding, this brisk 1930s comedy follows the hapless but earnest young man played by Frank Coghlan Jr., whose latest get-rich-quick scheme involves selling a dubious rainmaking formula to the desperate locals. His efforts quickly entangle him with the skeptical but charming Dorothea Kent and a host of eccentric residents, including the formidable Gladys Gale and the perpetually flustered Henry Roquemore. As our would-be hero attempts to convince the town of his meteorological prowess, he must navigate a whirlwind of misunderstandings, romantic missteps, and the ever-present threat of being exposed as a fraud. With a lighthearted tone and a parade of comical characters brought to life by a spirited cast, the film spins a delightful tale of hope, hubris, and the lengths people will go to for a little precipitation.
