In the surreal and stylish world of Peter Strickland's In Fabric, a malevolent dress weaves a bloody path through its unsuspecting owners. The story first follows Sheila, a lonely bank clerk played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who purchases the striking red gown from a bizarre, ritualistic department store in hopes of revitalizing her romantic life. The garment, however, carries a sinister curse that begins to unravel her reality with terrifying and darkly humorous consequences. After its first haunting, the dress finds its way to a washing machine repairman, Leo Bill, and his fiancée, Hayley Squires, igniting a new cycle of supernatural dread. Blending elegant horror with deadpan comedy, the film immerses viewers in a hypnotic nightmare of consumerism and the occult, where the most beautiful purchase can also be the most deadly.
