In the charming but struggling harbor village of Tickle Head, the desperate residents pin their fading hopes on securing a lucrative factory that requires one critical condition: a full-time doctor. Led by the determined fisherman Murray, played by Brendan Gleeson, the community concocts an elaborate and heartfelt scheme to seduce a young, reluctant big-city doctor, Taylor Kitsch's Dr. Paul Lewis, into staying permanently. As the townsfolk meticulously fabricate a perfect life to appeal to his every whim and interest, from a newfound cricket obsession to a curated romantic interest with the local postmistress, played by Liane Balaban, the line between deception and genuine connection begins to blur. This warm-hearted dramatic comedy, directed by Don McKellar, explores the lengths people will go to save their home, weaving a tale of community, unexpected friendship, and the possibility of finding exactly what you need in the place you least expect.
