In this tense dramatic thriller, a seemingly perfect couple’s dream of expanding their family takes a sinister turn. Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig star as Robert and Sarah Benson, a wealthy pair still healing from a past tragedy who decide to adopt a pregnant young woman, played by Jessica Lowndes, so they can raise her baby. Their idyllic lakeside home and hopeful plans, however, begin to unravel as the expectant mother’s arrival introduces unsettling secrets and unpredictable behavior. Directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, the film masterfully builds an atmosphere of creeping dread and suburban paranoia as the Bensons’ compassionate gesture plunges them into a psychological game where nothing is as it appears. They must navigate a web of deception and hidden motives, questioning whom they can trust in their own home while fighting to protect the future they’ve desperately tried to build.
