Eclipse Town #5
In this brief but haunting micro-short, writer, director, producer, and star Sebastian Sommer crafts a singular, enigma...
In the gentle, heartfelt comedy Dan in Real Life, Steve Carell stars as Dan Burns, a widowed advice columnist and devoted father of three daughters whose own life is anything but orderly. Seeking a quiet family getaway, Dan travels with his girls to the annual reunion at his parents’ Rhode Island home, a bustling haven filled with siblings, in-laws, and the comforting chaos of shared history. His own romantic prospects seem bleak until a chance encounter in a bookstore introduces him to the witty and enchanting Marie, played by Juliette Binoche. Their immediate, sparkling connection offers Dan a glimpse of happiness he thought was lost forever. The central conflict arises, however, when Dan discovers that Marie is actually the new girlfriend of his charismatic and carefree brother, Mitch (Dane Cook), forcing him to navigate a week of simmering tension, comical missteps, and profound self-discovery. Directed by Peter Hedges, the film warmly blends tender romance with relatable family humor, exploring the messy, beautiful reality of finding love and connection when and where you least expect it.
