In the sun-scorched desert of Borrego, a young botanist's quiet research trip spirals into a fight for survival. Lucy Hale stars as Elly, a scientist studying an invasive plant species, whose solitary work is violently interrupted when she witnesses a small plane crash. Drawn to the wreckage, she makes a fateful decision to help the injured pilot, only to find herself taken captive by him and his volatile associate. The pilot, Tomas, portrayed by Leynar Gomez, is a desperate drug mule for a powerful cartel, and Elly becomes his unwilling key to retrieving a lost shipment scattered across the harsh terrain. As local law enforcement, including a deputy played by Nicholas Gonzalez, closes in, Elly must use her intimate knowledge of the deadly landscape to outwit her captors. Directed by Jesse Harris, this tense thriller masterfully blends isolation with escalating danger, trapping its characters in a brutal game of cat and mouse where the unforgiving desert is as much an adversary as the armed men within it.
