After a devastating breakup with her longtime girlfriend, a talented but disillusioned musician named Becks, played by Lena Hall, retreats from the Brooklyn indie scene to her conservative childhood home in St. Louis. Living with her devout mother, portrayed by Christine Lahti, and navigating the awkwardness of her past, she reluctantly takes a job giving guitar lessons to locals. Her quiet existence is disrupted when she forms a complicated and unexpected connection with Elyse, a seemingly perfect suburban wife played by Mena Suvari, who is wrestling with her own unspoken desires. This raw and melodic drama, co-directed by Elizabeth Rohrbaugh and Daniel Powell, weaves a soulful soundtrack through a story of self-discovery, healing, and the unpredictable chords of new romance. As Becks tentatively begins to write music again, she must confront her past heartache and decide if she can open herself up to a future that looks nothing like she planned.
