On a remote, windswept island off the coast of Ireland, a simple and devastating declaration shatters a lifelong friendship. Pádraic, a kind but uncomplicated farmer played by Colin Farrell, is bewildered when his older, more intellectual drinking buddy Colm, portrayed by Brendan Gleeson, abruptly announces he no longer wishes to speak to him. As Pádraic, with the support of his sharp-witted sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon) and the island's lonely simpleton Dominic (Barry Keoghan), desperately tries to repair the rift, Colm’s resolve hardens into something far more drastic and alarming. Written and directed by Martin McDonagh, this darkly comic and profoundly tragic drama explores the sudden collapse of camaraderie, the lengths people will go to for a perceived legacy, and the quiet devastation of isolation, all set against the stark, beautiful backdrop of a community caught in its own petty wars. What begins as a personal slight spirals into an increasingly dire and absurd conflict, challenging everyone’s notions of friendship, art, and what makes a life worthwhile.
