In the sharp comedic drama Bad Therapy, a struggling married couple, Susan and Bob Howard, portrayed by Alicia Silverstone and Rob Corddry, find their relationship on the rocks. Desperate to reignite the spark and save their marriage, they decide to seek professional help from a charismatic but wildly unorthodox therapist named Dr. Stern, played by David Paymer. What begins as a hopeful attempt at reconciliation quickly spirals into a chaotic and hilarious nightmare when Dr. Stern’s bizarre and manipulative techniques turn their lives upside down. As the therapist inserts himself into every aspect of their existence, from their finances to their social circles, Susan and Bob must navigate a minefield of absurd advice, unexpected rivalries, and questionable ethics. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Michaela Watkins, Haley Joel Osment, Aisha Tyler, and Sarah Shahi, the film masterfully balances moments of laugh-out-loud comedy with genuine dramatic tension. The director, Gina Resnick, crafts a witty exploration of modern relationships, asking just how far one should go to fix what’s broken, while keeping audiences guessing who is truly in need of therapy.
