Zay Hilfigerrr is a rapper from the west side of Detroit, Michigan who found success with his breakthrough single "Juju on That Beat". He was born Tyjuan Peoples and prior to releasing the hit, he was active on various social media platforms and increased his popularity by constantly uploading videos of his dancing, music and skits.
He also performed at various local events and later drew the interest of film producer Timothy McCall, who contacted him and asked him to be involved with the Detroit-based "Fireworks Fireworks: The Movie". He then met McCall's budding rapper son James (a.k.a. Zayion) whom he later partnered with to record "Juju on That Beat", a track with a production rooted in Crime Mob's 2004 single "Knuck If You Buck".
The song became a viral hit thanks to Fresh the Clowns, a dance group affiliated with Universoul Circus. Various dancers uploaded their own performances backed by the song, which was then released in September 2016 via major-label Atlantic with "TZ Anthem" added to its title.
In just a few weeks, the song soared on Billboard Hot 100. It's currently sitting at the chart's No. 5 after being promoted with perfomances on some TV shows including "Live with Kelly" on October 19 and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on October 31.
